Your Linux servers, audited, hardened — and looked after.

DVSYS Inc. is an Ottawa-based Linux operations practice for small businesses, web agencies and MSPs that run production servers on Ubuntu and Azure — but don’t have a full-time Linux system administrator. Start with a fixed-price, read-only audit. Know exactly where you stand, in writing.

No sales pitch and no obligation. If the audit is not a fit, you will be told on the call.

The problem

Most small Linux environments have never been reviewed

Linux servers usually get attention when something breaks. Until then, the same quiet risks accumulate:

  • Security patches months behind, and no scheduled window to apply them
  • Backups that run every night — but have never been test-restored
  • Monitoring that sends alerts to nobody, or to an inbox nobody reads
  • Old user accounts, keys and sudo rights that were never cleaned up
  • Certificates that expire on a Friday night
  • Nobody who can say, in one page, what is running where and why

None of this requires a full-time hire to fix. It requires one careful review, a written plan, and someone who keeps an eye on it every month.

Services

Three ways to work with DVSYS

2) Managed Linux Care — from $250 CAD/month

Ongoing care for up to 5 servers, after an audit.

  • Monthly patching window, scheduled with you in advance
  • Monthly verification that backups completed — and periodic restore checks
  • Review of monitoring and alerts, so alerts reach a person who acts
  • A short monthly report: what was patched, what was checked, what needs attention
  • Small, agreed changes included within the plan’s monthly allowance

No long-term lock-in: monthly plan, 30 days’ notice to cancel.

3) Ad-hoc Linux consulting — from $100 CAD/hour

For the problem that doesn’t fit a package.

  • Troubleshooting production incidents and performance issues
  • Hardening and configuration reviews (SSH, web stack, Docker, TLS)
  • Automation with Ansible and documented runbooks
  • Migration and upgrade planning for Ubuntu servers

Quoted in advance wherever the scope allows. No surprise invoices.

Process

A clear process, in four steps

  1. Step 1 — Intro call (20 minutes).

We talk about your environment: how many servers, who looks after them today, and what worries you. If DVSYS is not the right fit, you will hear that on the call.

  2. Step 2 — Read-only audit.

You provide a named, least-privilege account. DVSYS inspects configuration and evidence only — nothing is changed, restarted or installed on your systems during the audit.

  3. Step 3 — Report and roadmap.

You receive the written report: findings by severity, the evidence for each, and a 30/60/90-day plan with effort estimates. We review it together on a short call.

  4. Step 4 — Fix and maintain (your choice).

Implement the plan with your team, your current provider, or DVSYS (project quote or hourly). If you want ongoing care, the Managed Linux Care plan starts from a known, documented baseline — the audit.

Why DVSYS

Senior Linux operations, sized for small teams

  • Canadian and incorporated: DVSYS Inc., based in Ottawa, serving clients remotely across Canada. Proper contracts, proper invoices, HST handled correctly.
  • Senior, not a help desk: your work is done by a senior Linux system administrator with experience operating large-scale enterprise Linux environments on Azure — patching, hardening, monitoring and incident investigation in production, across development, test and production environments.
  • The stack you actually run: Ubuntu, Ansible, Docker and Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, Icinga, OpenSearch, and end-to-end TLS/certificate management.
  • Written, not verbal: every engagement produces documentation — reports, inventories, runbooks — that stays with you, not with the consultant.
  • Bilingual service: service available in English and Spanish.
  • Conservative by design: read-only first, changes one at a time, with a rollback in mind. Production stability comes before speed.

For partners

For MSPs and web agencies

Already look after your clients’ IT or websites?

DVSYS works behind the scenes for MSPs and web agencies that are strong on Windows, Microsoft 365 or web development — and need a Linux specialist for the servers underneath. White-label available: the audit report and monthly care reports can carry your brand, and DVSYS does not contact your end clients directly.

FAQ

FAQ

No. The audit is read-only: configuration files are read, status commands are run, and evidence is collected. Nothing is installed, changed or restarted. If a check could add load (for example, a large log review), it is agreed with you first or skipped.

A named, individual account with read-only or audit-level permissions wherever possible, protected by SSH key and MFA where your setup supports it. No shared root passwords, ever. Access is removed by you at the end of the engagement — the offboarding step is part of the report.

Yes. DVSYS works under NDA on request and is happy to sign yours before any access is granted. Evidence collected during an audit is stored securely, used only for your report, and deleted or returned at the end of the engagement, as agreed in writing.

The founder — a senior Linux system administrator based in Ottawa. DVSYS does not outsource your servers to an anonymous offshore team. If a task needs a specialist outside DVSYS’s scope, you will be told before, not after.

No fixes or configuration changes (those are quoted separately once you have the report); no penetration testing or vulnerability exploitation; no application code review; no work on systems outside the agreed scope; and no emergency incident response during the audit window. The audit tells you what is wrong and in what order to fix it — it is a diagnosis, not the treatment.

No. The report and the 30/60/90 plan are yours to implement with anyone. The retainer exists because most clients prefer not to go back to “nobody is watching the servers” once the audit is done.

Ottawa, Ontario. All services are delivered remotely to private-sector clients across Canada. DVSYS does not offer on-site services outside the Ottawa area, and does not provide services to federal public-sector clients.

Canadian invoicing through DVSYS Inc. The audit is 50% to book and 50% on report delivery. Retainers are billed monthly in advance. Payment details are on the invoice.
